Rereading the last couple of posts I don’t feel that I’ve really done Slovenia justice. Perhaps I was a little harsh on Bled. Just to set the record straight – we loved the place! Ok the coastal area wasn’t all that, but the area we stayed in around Bohinj was great. We had planned a night or two, but stayed for five. We did some outdoorsy things, but a lot of the time was spent in peaceful contemplation of the scenery and how lucky we were to be there.
Leaving Slovenia, setting course for Udine, Italy we drove a mountainous route via Tomlin. The drive put the “awe” back in awesome. Narrow roads, hairpin bends, sheer drops and glimpses of mountains through the trees. We will return to this largely unexploited area when we get the time.
Slovenian people were found to be kind and tolerant of our struggles to make yourself understood. I’ll even forgive the driver of the Slovenian registered Range Rover who clipped off my wing mirror. Possibly.
