This walk challenged our staying power. The weather was very hot and the the trail seems to defy science by being uphill more than downhill. Nevertheless it’s a great excursion which takes you past the ancient extraction wells which were the origin of the famous porcelain factories of nearby Limoges. The area is crisscrossed with mountain bike trails with some very hairy looking descents and jumps.
About three quarters of the way round is a lookout point (point 5 on the map) with a jaw dropping view of the terrain. We collapsed there to recuperate and were surprised to be joined by a group of people wearing vey unsuitable shoes. It was then that we realised that the viewpoint is accessible by road. But that seems like cheating.
