Not really sure why, but this year I’ve been noticing that Bathrobes are the thing on some campsites.
At certain times of day they emerge and process across to the facilities block like a procession of monks on their way to matins or whatever happens in monasteries in the afternoon.
A casual statistical survey reveals that amongst men, the favourite colour by far is white. Maybe they’re wearing the ill gotten gains of hotel booty. Amongst women, I can percieve no particular pattern in the stats so far as colour is concerned. There is, though, a range of styles ranging from the dressing gown effect with a waist belt through to capacious swirling Dennis Roussos affairs where, its quite likely, that several small children are secreted beneath its folds.
The main ratio which emerges from my analysis relates the number of Bathrobes to how much I like the site. Generally an outbreak of bathrobes signifies a large, generally efficient, family oriented site, often located by the sea or a lake, with lots going on.
My preference is for smaller sites, perhaps not so well run, that are located miles from anywhere. Bathrobes are rarely spotted in this terrain.
I must make it clear that I have no plans to acquire a bathrobe.
Just in case you were wondering.
